My work is about control of speed.
It has to do with timing and accuracy.
I have recorded different aspects and views of disaplines that I enjoy.
I have crafted a steady cam to ablise the views and angles of my video camera to see the action as close as possible, I have called these sportraits.
Showing these different angles and speeds, it appears to twist and bend the surface of the ground as it rushes beneath my feet.
Someone once told me when the camera held such a steady distance from the skater, the timing of it makes it appear as if the camera is flying along with me.
However installed this work is a work of speed with no controll over the footage as a time peice, so I made the sportraits into rotoscopes.
When played in sequence through my iPod as a series of photos it creates a motion picture.
At 15 seconds a frame it takes two revolutions on the iPods sensitive touch pad to make approxamatly 1 second of time,
With a series of photos we can be the time controller, with reverse and slow motion.
I would like people to think about speed and control as something we all have.
